Obsession

I have long wrote about my OBSESSION with the Twilight series (I have had the Animotion song running in my head most of the day).  Mina and I are huge fans, and addicts.  There I said it.  I AM A TWILIGHT ADDICT.  So where will I be at MIDNIGHT tonight?  At the movie theater with my soon to be teenager and her two best friends.  I am having trouble focusing on the tasks at hand because I am so excited!  Tomorrow I will pay, as the movie will get out after 2am, we have a half hour drive home, and I have to be to work at 7am tomorrow.  GAD!  Tonight, I will only focus on enjoying the experience, the time with my daughter (who is growing up WAY to fast) and time with her friends (I always get the inside scoop on Mina from tales told about her by her friends!).  Tomorrow will take care of itself.

Inspiration

I am always amazed at what my "muse" can come up with and the ideas that just "pop" into my head!  When I took my bead embroidery class in Lincoln last month, I had an idea for a project that would involve a raven bead.  After much searching on Etsy, I found Jen Martin.  She has two Etsy shops, Outpost Jewelry and Graphix Outpost .  They have different aspects of her art, but both are absolutely amazing.  After working back and forth through the conversation function, I had a special order, and Jen did an amazing job!  I got my raven bead plus a couple other really cool raven beads and some GORGEOUS art faces for my bead embroidery.  This is the project I made with my extra raven beads just before Cottonwood last week.

I got the fabulous matte finished fire agate bead from Carla at by C boutique, the onyx beads from the Omaha Bead Show last year, and the other green and rust colored stones from beads etc. in Omaha.  Jen's raven beads are actually dominoes!  Too cool, and they are really amazing!  I love the mixed metals of the wire wraps and the chain (antique copper and gunmetal plate), it gives the whole piece a vintage feel.

This Weekend We Will Be Here!

We will be at the Flatwater Festival Friday and Saturday this week. Events kick off Friday night at 5pm.  Want more info?  Find the schedule here!  Thanks to all who visited with us at Cottonwood Festival.  We enjoy seeing you and hope to see you again soon!

Chris will also be torching at Julie's in Downtown Hastings Thursday night, participating in the art demos that will be part of Art Crawl.

Taste of Things To Come...

My first completed bead embroidery project!  They are so pretty!  I envisioned these at the Sherry Serafini class I took in May in Lincoln.  She was a terrific teacher, and had wonderful supplies we could buy from her stash.  These cabs and the orange Swarovski cup chain came from the stash.  I knew what they would look like in my head as soon as I picked up the supplies.  Weird how the Muse hits you sometimes!

New Beetle Bug Beads made just in time for our summer shows!  Aren't they cute!

This picture was just too cute not to share!  Tatterpillars inching their way to become cake or plant pokes!

We will be quiet for a bit, we have shows back to back the next THREE weekends!  Catch us this Friday and Saturday in the Graham Gallery Tent at Brickyard Park in Hastings for Cottonwood Festival and on Sunday, also at Brickyard Park for the Christian Music Festival .  Chris will be participating in the Art Crawl in Downtown Hastings on Thursday, June 24th doing torching demos.  We will be at Flatwater Festival at the Prairie Loft, on the west edge of Hastings, on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th.  On July 3rd we will be in Geneva for their 4th of July weekend celebration.  We are doing the Artists on the Green on the courthouse square from 9am-4pm on the 3rd.  Chris will be torching at all the shows, so stop by and watch him make marbles and beads!  Hope to see you at one of our events!

Replacement

So we are recovering from our accident.  We have been visiting our chiropractor, Dr. Wilson, to get the bones to be where they are supposed to, our insurance company worked amazingly fast to take care of us, and this will be ours tomorrow!  We are very excited!  We worked through the company we bought our other RAV through, Jackson's Car Corner, and they were also amazing!  They found what we were looking for and went and picked it up.  It is currently getting the once over by them, and then we will get it tomorrow when we are in Hastings.
When tragedy strikes your life, the best you can hope is that the trauma doesn't last long.  We have been blessed on many levels with the firemen, EMTs, and policemen that responded to our call, the tow truck driver, who stopped to allow us to get our luggage out of our vehicle, the insurance company that helped us know what to do next and then processed our claim with lightning swiftness, my brother and sister in law, that did everything in their power to make us feel better and help us get home (a very long drive for Cheryl and Caitlyn to come home with us and drive our rental car back), and to our Car Guys for finding us a replacement that was exactly what we wanted. We can't thank them each enough!
A slightly weird side note: the night before we left on vacation (which was about 24 hours exactly to the time of our accident), we were on our way home from Hastings and I decided to dig through the glove compartment to find our registration and insurance card.  I put it on top so we would be able to find it if we needed it, and put my current insurance card (they send us two) in my wallet. One of those moments, you're not sure if it was premonition or preparation, but I am glad I did!
